Samsung has officially kicked off the rollout of its January 2026 security update for the Galaxy S23 lineup, including the S23 FE. The deployment began in South Korea and is poised to expand to global markets in the coming days. This latest release prioritizes patching dozens of security vulnerabilities, several of which are classified as critical.

In the domestic market, the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are receiving the January 2026 patch with firmware version EZA1. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 FE is being updated to build DZA3. It is expected that Samsung will push similar packages to other major regions, including the U.S. and Europe, very soon.

As is standard with routine maintenance updates, the changelog is concise. This patch does not introduce new features or interface tweaks but focuses entirely on system hardening. According to Samsung, this latest Security Maintenance Release addresses over 50 vulnerabilities affecting both the Android OS and One UI components.

Looking ahead, the Galaxy S23 series remains on track for the major One UI 8.5 upgrade, which promises significant interface and UX improvements. Samsung is currently beta-testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 in select markets. The stable version is rumored to debut alongside the Galaxy S26, slated for release in early March. Consequently, the rollout for older flagship models like the S23 is expected to begin in late March or early April.

In the meantime, Galaxy S23 users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Since the rollout is phased, availability may vary by device. If the notification hasn't appeared yet, users are advised to check back in a few days.
