Samsung is expanding its One UI 8.5 testing phase, officially rolling out the first beta build for the Galaxy S24 lineup. This marks the first time the company's 2024 flagships are getting early access to the highly anticipated Android 16-based software. The update is currently live in select markets—including South Korea, India, and the UK—with a wider release expected soon.
Weighing in at a hefty 4.4GB (carrying firmware version ZZCD), the One UI 8.5 Beta is a massive system overhaul for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Alongside the comprehensive system upgrades, the rollout also bundles the March 2026 security patch to keep devices protected.
Under the hood, One UI 8.5 brings a host of notable design tweaks and new features. Several system apps now sport a floating navigation bar, making the interface feel much more intuitive. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the updated Photo Assist tool, which now allows for continuous, fluid editing without the need to save after every single step. Meanwhile, Quick Share has gotten smarter, using facial recognition to suggest the right people to share your photos with instantly.
Want to get in on the action? Users can sign up for the beta program via the Samsung Members app. Once registered, simply head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to pull the update and start exploring.
