Samsung has officially begun pushing the December 2025 security update to its mid-range standouts, the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A55. This latest release focuses on bolstering device stability and patching critical security gaps. While the rollout has kicked off in South Korea, it is expected to expand to global markets in the coming days.
For the Galaxy A56, the update carries firmware versions ending in BYL2 or BYL1, while Galaxy A55 users should look for the build number ending in CYL1. To check if the update is available for your device, simply navigate to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
While this update doesn't introduce flashy new features, it is a crucial maintenance release. It addresses 6 critical vulnerabilities and 51 high-severity issues within the Android OS, alongside 11 Samsung-specific security (SVE) fixes.
The update wave isn't limited to the A-series. Samsung is simultaneously pushing the December patch to a wide roster of devices, including the Galaxy A34, Tab S6 Lite, XCover 7, the flagship Galaxy S25 lineup, as well as the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Notably, the Galaxy A34 is already receiving this patch globally.
In related news, the Galaxy A56 is currently in the spotlight following reports that it may receive up to 7 years of security updates. Furthermore, Samsung has reportedly begun internal testing of One UI 8.5 for the device, hinting at a modernized software experience arriving in the near future.
