Samsung has just released a new software update for the Galaxy S21 series in the US market. Notably, all four models received the patch this time, including the Galaxy S21 FE - a device that is often "forgotten" in the update process compared to other flagship models. The update brings the June 2025 security patch with more than 60 security bugs fixed.
Over the past few weeks, Samsung has deployed the June 2025 security update to more than a dozen Galaxy devices. This update continues to add more than 60 security patches related to components in One UI and the Android operating system. The Galaxy S21 series is the latest to receive the patch, with locked devices in the US being prioritized for the update. Global users will soon receive the update in the near future.
The US-based Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra devices can be identified by firmware code G99*USQSGHYF2, while the Galaxy S21 FE has firmware code G990USQSHHYF4. This is a security update only, with no new features.
The lack of new features is understandable, as all three Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra models have received the Android 15 update with One UI 7 not long ago. This is also the last major OS upgrade for the trio of flagships. From now on, these devices will only receive regular security patches.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 FE is still on the OS update roadmap. This device is eligible for Android 16 and One UI 8, and will likely be updated to One UI 8.5 before moving to the security patch-only phase. If you have one of these devices in the US, check for the update in the next few days by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
