Samsung is hitting the gas on its One UI 8.5 rollout. After successfully updating the vast majority of its flagship smartphones, the South Korean tech giant is turning its attention to larger screens, bringing the update to the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Tab S10 Lite, and the rugged Tab Active 5 Pro.
This move comes hot on the heels of recent upgrades for newer models, including the Tab S11, Tab S10 FE, the premium Tab S10 duo, and the budget-friendly Tab A11. Currently, South Korea is getting the first taste of the new software before the rollout expands globally.
In this wave of updates, the Galaxy Tab S9 series is receiving a firmware version ending in EZE3. The Tab S10 Lite gets version CZE5, while the Tab Active 5 Pro receives CZE4. You will want to clear some storage space before downloading: while the exact file size varies depending on whether you own an LTE or Wi-Fi model, the update generally weighs in at a hefty 3GB or more.
Don't expect a massive visual overhaul with One UI 8.5. Instead, Samsung has focused on deep, under-the-hood tweaks designed to optimize performance for expansive displays. The manufacturer has refined split-screen controls, smoothed out app transition animations, and polished the DeX interface to deliver a more seamless, PC-like workflow. Multitasking between floating windows and split-screen tasks is noticeably snappier now, thanks to a new resource-allocation algorithm that also helps conserve battery life.
If you are rocking one of these tablets in South Korea, you can grab the update right now by heading to Settings > Software update, and tapping Download and install. For users in Vietnam and the rest of the world, keep an eye on your notifications—the update is expected to arrive later this week or early next.
