Samsung has quietly hinted that its premium Galaxy Tab S8 lineup will likely miss out on the upcoming One UI 8.5 update.
The South Korean tech giant recently removed the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra from the supported devices list for its Camera Assistant app on the Galaxy Store, specifically regarding One UI 8.5 compatibility. This follows an earlier rollout schedule published in Hong Kong, which confirmed the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4 would also be excluded from the new software bump.
The move aligns with recent leaks suggesting Samsung has halted One UI 8.5 development for its 2022 device roster. If these rumors hold true, the chopping block includes the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Galaxy A33, A53, A73, and the Tab S8 lineup. For these gadgets, One UI 8 will serve as the final major software upgrade, though they will continue to receive regular security patches.
Samsung has yet to release an official One UI 8.5 roadmap for major markets like South Korea, India, or Europe. However, owners of the aforementioned 2022 models are advised to temper their expectations for any new features.
Meanwhile, newer Galaxy devices launched from 2023 onwards that ship with One UI 8 remain safely on track for the upgrade. Samsung is currently accelerating its testing phase to roll out the fresh software to these newer models in the near future.
