In an unexpected move, Samsung is expanding its One UI 8.5 beta program to the Galaxy A36, a mid-range device that typically sits on the back burner for early software testing.

The One UI 8.5 beta originally debuted on the flagship Galaxy S25 before trickling down to a select few other models. While recent rumors hinted that Samsung might broaden the rollout to older Galaxy S, Z, and A5x series devices, the inclusion of the A36 has caught many tech enthusiasts off guard.

Currently, the Galaxy A36’s One UI 8.5 Beta is exclusively rolling out to users in India. The hefty 2.5GB update carries the firmware version A366EXXU8ZZD2.

Once installed, users will get a taste of a refined interface, performance tweaks, and new features that mirror the experience previously reserved for Samsung’s high-end lineup.

To get in on the action, users must first register through the Samsung Members app. After a successful sign-up, simply navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to grab the beta.
