Samsung is keeping the momentum going with its December 2025 update cycle, rolling out new firmware for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE alongside a dedicated patch for the Galaxy Ring. As expected with these periodic releases, neither update introduces major new features. Instead, the focus remains strictly on security, system stability, and refining the long-term user experience.
Galaxy Tab S9 FE Receives December Security Patch
In South Korea, the rollout has already begun for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. The device is picking up firmware version DYK1, with the OTA (over-the-air) package weighing in at over 330 MB, according to update trackers. Samsung is expected to expand availability to other regions in the coming days.
True to the nature of a monthly security patch, this update doesn’t bring any visual overhauls or flashy tools. The priority is under-the-hood maintenance. According to the release notes, the December 2025 patch addresses nearly 70 security vulnerabilities found within both the Android OS and Samsung’s own software ecosystem. This includes fixes for several critical-severity issues, bolstering the device's defense against emerging threats.
Galaxy Ring Gets Stability Boost
Concurrently, Samsung has pushed a new firmware update for the Galaxy Ring. Currently rolling out to users in India first, this update targets overall stability and battery life improvements—two critical factors for a wearable designed for 24/7 usage. Samsung has indicated that the rollout will widen to other markets soon.
As always, these updates are released in phases, so not everyone will see the notification at the exact same time. Samsung recommends installing the new firmware as soon as it becomes available to ensure your devices remain protected against security risks and potential exploits.
