Samsung's One UI 8 release plan has just encountered a problem when the company suddenly paused updates for the Galaxy S23 series, just a short time after the update was widely released. This is a move that has attracted the attention of the user community, especially when the Galaxy S24, S22, and M53 were previously stopped updating due to similar errors.

One UI 8 is developed based on Android 16, bringing a more intuitive, streamlined, and smoother interface. The update focuses on upgrading the user experience with refreshed icons, smooth transition effects, system-wide dark mode, and a series of smart AI features to help the device operate more optimally. In addition, the ability to connect between the phone and SmartThings, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds has also been significantly improved.

Samsung started deploying One UI 8 in mid-September for more than 60 Galaxy devices, but during the release process, the company discovered a number of issues related to system performance and stability. Therefore, the update has been paused to ensure quality and limit risks for users.

The list of affected devices currently includes:

  • Galaxy Z Fold SE: update restored
  • Galaxy S22 series: partial re-release
  • Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy M53: still paused

This means that Galaxy S23 users will not receive OTA notifications in the near future. Although the update is still on the server in some regions, Samsung recommends that users do not manually install it to avoid errors during use.

According to the record, the current One UI 8 version does not cause serious problems, so users who have updated do not need to worry too much. Samsung usually handles stability-related issues quickly, and it is likely that the company will soon release a new patch version in the next few days.
