Samsung is accelerating the completion of One UI 8.5 and, in the process of refreshing the ecosystem interface, the Samsung Messages application is also upgraded with a series of notable visual changes.

The Samsung Messages icon is the first highlight. The new icon has a shadow effect and a raised border, creating a more subtle three-dimensional depth than the old version. The background blue tone is slightly lightened, giving a modern feel and consistent with the icon set that Samsung is refreshing on One UI 8.5. When placed next to the One UI 8.0 icon, the difference becomes clear.

Inside the application, Samsung continues to apply the typical design style of One UI 8.5. The floating navigation bar with text label, the translucent gradient effect in the overflow area, and the floating Gallery icon when the user wants to send an image all appear fully. All bring a seamless feel to the interface of the core applications in the Galaxy ecosystem.

The conversation interface has also been tweaked for a more intuitive experience. The chat buttons and menus are now filled in, floating above the content for easy navigation and recognition. The avatar and recipient name now have their own floating frame, with a translucent gradient effect at the top of the screen for a lighter, more premium look overall.

While the changes are largely cosmetic, the update brings Samsung Messages more in line with the new design language Samsung is rolling out. It’s still a staple app in many markets that don’t support Google Messages, so it makes sense to update it with One UI 8.5. Samsung will likely continue to refresh more apps – and users are eagerly waiting for that.
