Samsung is laying the final groundwork to expand its One UI 8.5 Beta program to its latest foldables. Following the stable release of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S26 series, all signs point to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 being next in line for the beta treatment.

Firmware builds for both devices recently surfaced on Samsung’s servers, indicating the software is nearing completion. Adding to the anticipation, Samsung has now created dedicated One UI 8.5 Beta registration sections for the Fold 7 and Flip 7 on its official community forums—a telltale sign that a public rollout is imminent.

This move suggests the beta could go live very soon. Historically, Samsung kicks off its testing phases in familiar markets like South Korea, the US, and Germany, before expanding globally once the initial builds prove stable.

Based on Android 16 QPR2, One UI 8.5 promises a cleaner, more intuitive user interface. Samsung has focused heavily on refining the system layout and decluttering settings menus, while simultaneously boosting customization options for the home screen, Quick Panel, and native apps.

For foldable users, this update is highly anticipated. It is expected to introduce bespoke optimizations for multitasking, seamless transitions between the cover and main displays, and enhanced app experiences in folded and unfolded states.

As is standard practice, the beta program will likely run for several weeks, accompanied by multiple patches before the official stable release. If Samsung sticks to its usual timeline, Fold 7 and Flip 7 owners won't have to wait long after the testing phase concludes to get the final version.
