Following a rapid software deployment for its premium lineup, Samsung is now bringing the stable One UI 8.5 update to its mid-range smartphones. Hot on the heels of the Galaxy A56, the Galaxy A36 is the latest device to receive the highly anticipated upgrade.

Over the past two weeks, Samsung has successfully rolled out stable One UI 8.5 to nearly all of its 2024 and 2025 high-end devices globally. Meanwhile, 2023 flagships—including the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5—have already received the update in their home market of South Korea and are slated for a broader international release shortly.

Currently, the new software (carrying a firmware version ending in CZDA) is live for Galaxy A36 users in South Korea. As is customary with Samsung's phased rollouts, the update data will gradually become available in other global markets over the coming days, rather than launching everywhere all at once.

While the mid-range A36 misses out on the hardware-intensive, in-depth AI features reserved for pricier flagship models, it still benefits from a significant visual overhaul. Based on Android 16, this new update introduces smoother transition animations, trendy translucent UI elements, and a minimalist navigation bar designed to maximize screen real estate. Furthermore, overall system stability has seen noticeable improvements compared to the previous version.

Galaxy A36 owners can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping Download and install.
