Samsung is widening the reach of its One UI 8.5 Beta program, officially opening it up to Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 users. This move follows the update's initial rollout on the company's latest generation of devices. Currently live in South Korea, the beta is expected to hit other major markets, including the US and the UK, in the near future.

While Samsung has been testing the software internally on these foldables for a few weeks, public registration is only just opening up. Beyond UI tweaks and new features, the update bundles the March 2026 security patch to keep devices protected.

South Korean users can opt into the program via the Samsung Members app. Once registered, the over-the-air (OTA) update can be downloaded by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. While the process is straightforward, Samsung strongly advises backing up important data before making the jump.

As with any beta, early adopters should brace for potential bugs and stability hiccups. Samsung is expected to drop several follow-up beta builds to iron out these issues based on user feedback, while also bringing more devices into the beta fold.

Interestingly, this rapid expansion of the beta testing phase might impact the final release timeline. It's looking increasingly likely that the stable rollout could be pushed back to around May 2026, rather than the earlier window initially anticipated.
