Samsung is widening the reach of its One UI 8.5 beta program, welcoming Fan Edition (FE) devices—specifically the Galaxy S24 FE and S25 FE—to its early access roster. The initial beta rollout has already kicked off in select markets, including India, with a broader global release expected shortly.
Historically, Samsung has excluded FE models from early beta testing, opting to push only the final, stable updates to these devices. This shift in strategy signals the tech giant’s intent to cast a wider net for user feedback, ensuring a more polished software experience ahead of the official launch.
Digging into the technical details, the Galaxy S24 FE receives the beta under firmware version ZZCD (weighing in at over 4.1GB), while the S25 FE gets the ZZCE build (roughly 3.5GB). Both updates are bundled with the March 2026 security patch to enhance device safety.
Eager users with a valid Samsung account can opt into the program via the Samsung Members app. Once registered, the update can be pulled by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
As with any early-stage software, adopters should brace for potential bugs and system instability. Samsung is expected to roll out subsequent beta builds to iron out these kinks before the final public release.
Meanwhile, development is accelerating across the broader Galaxy portfolio. The flagship Galaxy S24 series has just received its first beta, while the Galaxy S25 lineup is already on its eighth iteration, highlighting Samsung's aggressive push to finalize One UI 8.5 across multiple price points.
