As mid-December arrives, Samsung is continuing its aggressive rollout of the December 2025 security patch, now covering over 40 smartphones and tablets. The latest wave brings critical security fixes and stability improvements to the Galaxy A54, Galaxy A13, and Galaxy Tab A9 just before the year comes to a close.
As expected, this month’s update focuses on addressing dozens of vulnerabilities identified by both Google and Samsung, ranging from high to critical severity across the Android OS and One UI. specifically, Samsung has confirmed that this package includes 68 security fixes tailored for Galaxy devices.
The rollout has officially kicked off in South Korea, with the Galaxy A54, A13, and Tab A9 receiving firmware versions A546SKSSDEYL2, A136SKSSCEYL2, and X110XXS7DYL2, respectively. Samsung is expected to expand availability to global markets in the coming days. Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
Looking at the broader software roadmap, the Galaxy A13 has reached the end of its major feature update cycle. However, the Galaxy A54 and Tab A9 remain eligible for significant future upgrades. Both devices are slated to receive One UI 8.5 next year. Currently in beta and built on Android 16, One UI 8.5 is expected to launch its stable version alongside the Galaxy S26 series before trickling down to other eligible models.
Beyond security patches, One UI 8.5 is rumored to bring a visual overhaul to the Galaxy experience. Leaks suggest a new multi-layered design language featuring depth effects, softer animations, and richer color palettes across system apps. Combined with performance optimizations and usability tweaks, the update aims to deliver a smoother, more intuitive daily experience.
