Samsung has officially unveiled the details of its January 2026 security update for Galaxy devices. The latest rollout addresses a total of 55 security vulnerabilities, with a significant portion affecting One UI specifically, alongside standard Android OS fixes. The severity of these flaws ranges from moderate to critical.

According to Samsung, the January 2026 security package comprises 21 patches from Android, four related to Samsung’s semiconductor division, and 30 patches exclusive to One UI. Notably, the Android patches include four vulnerabilities classified as critical, posing a potential risk of remote attacks if exploited. The remaining issues are categorized as high-priority.

Samsung Semiconductor has also resolved several security issues affecting Exynos chips, which power a wide range of Galaxy devices. Regarding One UI, the company focused on patching flaws within system apps, background services, and core components. However, full technical details remain undisclosed to prevent potential exploitation before users have the chance to update.

Currently, the January 2026 security patch is available for Galaxy S25 users participating in the One UI 8.5 Beta program. The rollout is expected to expand to stable Galaxy S25 units running One UI 8, as well as other Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the near future, following Samsung’s typical release schedule.

Users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. While some newer Galaxy models support seamless updates to minimize downtime, most devices will still require a restart to complete the installation.
