Samsung is officially tearing down the file-sharing wall between its devices and the Apple ecosystem. The tech giant has removed the exclusivity of AirDrop-compatible Quick Share on its flagship Galaxy S26 series, rolling out the feature to a broader range of Galaxy models via the One UI 8.5 Beta program.

Previously, the ability to seamlessly share files with iPhones, iPads, and Macs was locked to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. With the latest beta expansion, Samsung is bringing this much-anticipated capability to several older premium devices, making cross-platform wireless transfers significantly easier.

The update covers the Galaxy S24 and S25 series, alongside recent foldables including the Z Flip 6, Flip 7, Z Fold 6, and Fold 7. All these devices are currently enrolled in the One UI 8.5 testing phase, signaling Samsung's phased approach to trickling down premium features to its recent flagships.

This move marks a distinct shift in Samsung’s software strategy. By stripping away the feature's exclusivity to its newest generation, the company is actively bridging the gap between the Android and Apple ecosystems, prioritizing a frictionless data-sharing experience for its users.

Google paved the way for this cross-platform integration, being the first to introduce AirDrop compatibility to Android via Quick Share. With this broader Galaxy rollout, Samsung becomes the second major manufacturer to embrace the trend, further driving interoperability across the wider Android landscape.

While the deployment remains confined to the beta phase, it is widely expected to reach more users when the stable version of One UI 8.5 officially launches in the near future.
