Samsung blames Google for One UI 7 delay?

A user recently contacted Samsung customer support to inquire about the One UI 7 release date. The response from the company representative quickly drew attention as it suggested that Google could be the cause of the update delay.

As a custom interface based on the Android operating system, One UI cannot operate independently and depends on core components from Google. According to the Samsung representative, the company is still waiting for Google to complete or release important parts of Android 15 before it can deploy One UI 7 stably.

Samsung has long been considered one of the fastest Android manufacturers in rolling out operating system updates, especially for flagship lines. For example, One UI 6 was released just a few months after Android 14 officially launched in October 2023. However, with One UI 7, the progress seems to have slowed down significantly.

The new update promises sharper images, smoother animations, and more customizations. Android 15 also introduces notable improvements such as battery optimization, satellite connection support on some devices, and enhanced privacy. However, all of these upgrades still have no specific timeline for users.

In their response, Samsung representatives frankly expressed: “Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics. I sincerely apologize because I myself am also waiting for the UI 7.0 (Android 15.0) update for my phone, so I understand your frustration. On our side, UI and Android are entirely owned and developed by Google, not Samsung Electronics. Therefore, we have to wait for them to release the update before we can deploy it to our devices. I cannot provide an exact time frame, but I guarantee that your device will receive this update.”

This response came as a surprise to many, as it is rare for a customer support representative to publicly shift responsibility to another company. Typically, such dependencies are not mentioned publicly to maintain a unified brand image.

Of course, it should be noted that this could just be a support representative’s personal speculation and not necessarily an official statement from Samsung. However, so far, the company has not announced any timeframe for the release of the stable One UI 7 update after the Beta testing phase. Currently, the Beta of One UI 7 is available for some devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, but users are still waiting for the official version.
