Samsung has reportedly begun internal development and testing for the upcoming One UI 9.0 on the Galaxy S24 lineup, encompassing the standard, Plus, and Ultra variants. This move comes hot on the heels of the South Korean tech giant’s recent limited testing phase for the Galaxy S26 and S25 series.

Data sourced directly from Samsung’s servers reveals that source code builds for the 2024 flagship trio have officially surfaced. Specifically, the test firmware carries the build numbers S921BXXUFEZF7, S926BXXUFEZF7, and S928BXXUFEZF7 for the respective models.

Marking a significant leap from One UI 8.5—which runs on the Android 16 QPR2 platform—the new One UI 9.0 is built natively on the Android 17 architecture. This major upgrade focuses heavily on deep system optimizations, broader UI customization options tailored to individual user habits, and the integration of automated tools designed to streamline daily tasks.

According to the expected roadmap, the stable version of One UI 9.0 is slated to make its official debut alongside the next generation of foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold Ultra, and Flip 8, next month. Following the launch of these new devices, Samsung will initiate a widespread update rollout for older models, while simultaneously opening the Beta registration program for Galaxy S24 users in key markets.
