Activity surrounding the One UI 8.5 beta has been noticeably sluggish over the past week. While users have been eagerly anticipating the next beta release for the flagship Galaxy S25 series, it failed to materialize. Instead, the spotlight shifted to the mid-range segment, with test builds surfacing for the Galaxy M15 and M36, signaling that Samsung is proceeding with a cautious, steady internal testing phase.
Samsung has officially kicked off internal development for the Galaxy M15. Test firmware bearing the version number M156SKSU6DZA2 was spotted on Korean servers for the model SM-M156S. While the appearance of this build confirms that Samsung has begun work on the next major software update for the device, it doesn't necessarily indicate an imminent public release.
Concurrently, the Galaxy M36 has also made an appearance on Samsung’s test servers in Korea. Identified by model number SM-M366K, the device was logged with build number M366KKSU4CZA4. This confirms that the M36 has officially joined the M15 in the One UI 8.5 testing roadmap.
As of now, there are no signs of One UI 8.5 builds for the Galaxy F15 or F36. However, it is highly likely these models will surface in the coming weeks, alongside other regional variants of the M15 and M36. This follows a wave of recent sightings for other M-series devices, including the Galaxy M56, M55, M54, M35, M34, and M16. The list of pending M and F series devices is quickly shrinking.
One UI 8.5 is expected to bring a host of interface tweaks, visual enhancements, and new features to compatible devices. While the beta program for the Galaxy S25 series is technically open in multiple markets, the rollout of specific updates has seen a lull. If the current timeline holds, the stable version is projected to launch around mid-March. Most devices currently running One UI 8 are expected to be eligible for the 8.5 upgrade.
