Just days after releasing the first software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE trio with the July security patch and many important bug fixes, Samsung has started rolling out the August 2025 security patch, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 being the first device to receive the update.
In Korea, the August update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is released via OTA with firmware code F966NKSU3AYGH, with a size of more than 550MB. The patch content focuses on the latest security fixes, improving system stability without adding new features.
According to information from Samsung, the August 2025 security patch fixes nearly 50 security vulnerabilities. Notably, this firmware comes with a bootloader upgrade, as indicated by a change in the fifth character from the end of the firmware code (from “2” in the July F966NKSS2AYG5 version to “3” in the new version). This means that security is enhanced at the system level, and users will not be able to roll back to the previous version after installation.
It is likely that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE will also receive the August patch with similar content soon. Samsung is not expected to release a new feature update for this foldable line until it starts rolling out the stable One UI 8 to the Galaxy S25 next month. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE trio currently run One UI 8 out of the box.
Previously, the August patch was also released by Samsung for the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Flip 6 — devices that are expected to start participating in the One UI 8 beta program this week in the US, UK, India, and South Korea.
