Less than two months after its launch, the Galaxy Tab A11 has officially received its first major OS update. The budget tablet originally shipped with One UI 7, and now Samsung has started upgrading to One UI 8 in Korea. A global version is expected to be released soon. Both Wi-Fi and LTE models use the same BYK3 firmware.
The Galaxy Tab A11 is one of the last remaining devices on the One UI 8 (Android 16) upgrade roadmap. With this update, Samsung continues to keep its commitment to long-term software support for the Tab A series, especially since the Galaxy Tab A11 is guaranteed up to seven years of OS and security updates – a rare number in the mainstream segment. Meanwhile, the recently launched Galaxy Tab A11+ comes pre-installed with One UI 8 with the same support policy.
One UI 8 brings a series of significant changes to the interface and user experience. Users will notice smoother transitions, deeper personalization, and expanded smart features. The widget interface has been refined to be more beautiful, the gradient wallpaper has become more vivid, and Now Bar and Now Brief have been added with smart display capabilities. Samsung Notes now has convenient sticky notes, and Samsung Internet has improved speed and stability.
On the Galaxy Tab A11, Samsung DeX also works more flexibly, supporting multitasking well. My Files displays file paths more clearly, while shortening the steps to access downloaded files. Split-screen mode has an additional 90:10 ratio option, suitable for users who only need to quickly interact with a small window while still following the main content. Secure Folder is more robust by leveraging the new Private Space APIs from Android 16.
The Galaxy Tab A11 One UI 8 update also comes with the October 2025 security patch, ensuring the device operates more stably and securely during use.
