Samsung is expected to be the first to equip Flex Magic Pixel technology on the Galaxy S26 Ultra - the most advanced model in the Galaxy S26 series expected to launch early next year. This is a new generation of screen technology developed by Samsung Display, which helps control the viewing angle of the screen using artificial intelligence, providing an effect similar to sticking an "anti-peeping sticker" but without reducing display quality.
Flex Magic Pixel was first introduced at MWC 2024 and recently appeared at the K-Display 2025 exhibition. This technology allows AI to adjust each OLED pixel to limit the viewing angle when users open applications containing sensitive information. Thanks to that, the screen is only clearly displayed to the person holding the phone, while people around can hardly observe. Compared to conventional anti-peeping stickers that reduce brightness and sharpness, Flex Magic Pixel still maintains maximum display quality.
Along with that, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is also the first bar-shaped smartphone to apply CoE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology, which previously only appeared on the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip lines. Instead of using a traditional polarizing film, CoE replaces it with a color layer placed directly on the OLED structure, combined with a black Pixel Define Layer (Black PDL). By removing the polarizing film, the panel becomes thinner, the light transmittance increases, helping to reduce power consumption and improve outdoor visibility as well as color accuracy.
According to experts, CoE plays a fundamental role in making Flex Magic Pixel work effectively. Because when activating the viewing angle restriction mode, part of the light will be lost, and CoE will compensate by increasing the light transmittance. This not only optimizes the security effect but also ensures that the screen maintains its top sharpness.
Industry sources say that the appearance of Flex Magic Pixel on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is just the beginning. This technology will likely continue to expand to the next generation Galaxy Z Fold and Flip lines, aiming for an era of mobile screens that are both thin, light, energy-saving, and that integrate smart security features right from the hardware.
