While Galaxy S25 owners in select regions are already diving into the One UI 8.5 Beta, there is still no indication that Samsung plans to open the testing program for the Galaxy S24 series just yet. For now, the tech giant has only released the December 2025 security patch for the S24 lineup, delivering security enhancements and system optimizations without adding any new features.
Carrying the firmware version CYL1, this latest update is currently being deployed in South Korea before expanding to global markets. Depending on the specific model and region, the OTA package weighs in at approximately 400MB. Crucially, this patch addresses nearly 70 security vulnerabilities spanning both the core Android OS and Samsung's One UI platform.
It is worth noting the timing: just hours after the security patch hit the Galaxy S24, Samsung launched the One UI 8.5 Beta program for the Galaxy S25. This sequence of events sparked hope among many S24 users that a beta invitation might be imminent. However, as of this writing, there is no concrete evidence suggesting Samsung is preparing to bring the One UI 8.5 Beta to its 2024 flagship lineup.
Despite the silence on the beta front, Samsung is actively developing One UI 8.5 for a broader range of devices beyond the S25, including the Galaxy S24, S23, and select mid-range models. SamCafe will provide immediate updates as soon as more details on the rollout schedule become available.
In the meantime, Galaxy S24 users are advised to install the December patch by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. If Samsung decides against a beta program for this model, users will likely have to wait for the stable One UI 8.5 release—expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 and see a wider release in the second quarter of 2026.
