Less than a week after officially launching globally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE trio have started receiving the first software update from Samsung. This is a move that shows that the company is quickly optimizing the user experience on its latest generation of foldable devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are considered the best foldable phones that Samsung has ever produced, with a thinner, lighter, and more durable design, while integrating many hardware and software improvements. Immediately after the products reached users, Samsung released the first firmware patch to strengthen stability and enhance system security.
Specifically, the update has version numbers F966BXXS2AYGG (Z Fold 7), F766BXXS2AYGD (Z Flip 7) and F761BXXS2AYG5 (Z Flip 7 FE), mainly focusing on improving security. The update is quite light and doesn't come with any new features, but it's an important preparation step before Samsung releases larger updates in the future.
Early patch deployment is common after each new device launch. When a product reaches a large user base, minor performance or security issues are quickly discovered and addressed. This is also the reason why Samsung often releases maintenance updates early in the first week of sales.
Previously, Samsung said that major changes to the user interface and features will be integrated into new One UI updates, expected to be released with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Although foldable devices are currently the first platforms to run One UI 8, users will still have to wait a while to experience comprehensive upgrades to the interface and features.
