Ahead of the official release of One UI 8 in August, Samsung is accelerating the security update schedule for Galaxy devices. After the Galaxy S23, S24, and S25 series, it is now the Galaxy S22's turn to receive the July 2025 security patch.

Currently, the update is being rolled out in South Korea for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra with firmware version FYG1. This update brings patches for one critical vulnerability and 21 high-level vulnerabilities in the Android operating system. In addition, Samsung also fixes 17 vulnerabilities related to One UI and a security bug in the Exynos series.

Although not the biggest patch in recent times, the July update still contains many important security improvements. Samsung is expected to expand the release of this update to other markets soon, similar to what it did with the S25 and S24 series before.

Aside from security patches, what Galaxy S22 users are most looking forward to is the One UI 8 update based on Android 16. The series is eligible for Samsung's next major upgrade. Although not yet released publicly, One UI 8 is currently in internal testing for the Galaxy S22 series. The new update promises a more refined interface, smarter AI features, and more personalization options.

We will continue to monitor the One UI 8 release schedule and update as soon as there is official information for the Galaxy S22. In the meantime, users can check and install the July security patch by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the download is complete, select Restart to complete the update.
