Samsung is rushing to complete the release of the May 2025 security patch for Galaxy devices before the end of this month. Of which, the Galaxy S21 FE is the latest name to join the list of updated devices.
Currently, the update is being deployed to the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S21 FE in India with the software code G990B2XXSCHYE2. The OTA package is about 350MB in size, focusing entirely on improving security, not adding new features.
According to information from Samsung, the May patch fixes nearly 60 security vulnerabilities related to the Android operating system and more than 20 vulnerabilities affecting the One UI interface and Galaxy services. These bugs can be exploited to gain unauthorized access to the device, so users are recommended to update as soon as possible.
While there are no major new features, monthly patches like this sometimes include minor tweaks to optimize system performance or improve overall stability.
The update is currently available in select regions and is expected to roll out globally soon, including the Exynos variant. Users can manually check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The Galaxy S21 FE is still on track to receive Android 16 and One UI 8 in the near future. Meanwhile, other models in the Galaxy S21 series, such as the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra, will no longer receive major OS upgrades as they have completed their update cycle.
