Samsung has just started rolling out the August 2025 security update with an unexpected first device: the Galaxy A56. Despite being just a mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A56 leads the entire Galaxy lineup in this update, surpassing flagships like the Galaxy S25 series or the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Currently, Galaxy A56 users in Europe have started receiving the update with the software code A566BXXS6AYGE, about 370MB in size. The update mainly focuses on patching nearly 50 security vulnerabilities, including a serious vulnerability in Android and 18 bugs specific to Galaxy devices, according to Samsung's official announcement.

In addition to security patches, this update may also come with some minor tweaks to optimize device performance. However, users should not expect any new features to appear this time. The Galaxy A56 is still on track to receive One UI 8 this year, and this is the first major update in the 6 years of software support that the device is guaranteed.

It is rare for the Galaxy A56 to receive the update before high-end models like the Galaxy S25, S24, or Z Fold 7 in Samsung's traditional update schedule. However, high-end devices are expected to be added to the update list in the next few days.

Galaxy A56 users can check for the new update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The device supports Seamless Updates, which allows software to be installed in the background while still using the device normally. Once the update is complete, the device will quickly reboot to apply the changes without interrupting the experience.
