Samsung is reportedly gearing up to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 'Wide' this coming July, and tech enthusiasts are finally getting their first real glimpse of the device. Following a series of CAD renders, a new hands-on video has surfaced, showcasing a dummy unit of the highly anticipated foldable.

Shared by prominent tech leaker Sonny Dickson, the video highlights a strikingly compact and ultra-thin foldable phone. Whether this dummy came directly from a factory or was 3D-printed by a third party based on leaked schematics remains unclear.

What is clear, however, is the design shift. The outer display adopts a shorter, wider aspect ratio, catering to users who prefer a more pocketable form factor—reminiscent of earlier foldables from Oppo and Google. On the back, the device sports a vertical dual-camera setup, drawing immediate comparisons to the Galaxy S25 Edge series.

While the video doesn't offer a close-up of the inner screen, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a significant gap at the hinge. Industry analysts suggest this is likely a quirk of the incomplete dummy model lacking the actual flexible display, rather than a flaw in the final commercial product, which is expected to fold completely flat.

Under the hood, rumors point to a powerhouse. The Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 4,800 mAh battery with 45W fast charging, and a 7.6-inch primary display. Photography is reportedly handled by a 50-megapixel main sensor paired with a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens.

In a surprising twist, recent whispers suggest a potential naming shake-up: Samsung might rebrand this wider variant as the standard "Galaxy Z Fold 8," while the traditional, taller version could take on the "Fold 8 Ultra" moniker.
