Exynos to return to Galaxy S26 series: A step back or a strategic gamble?

The Exynos vs. Snapdragon debate has always been a hot topic among Samsung users. The latest Galaxy S25 series is equipped globally with Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. However, this may change next year.

According to many reliable sources, the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will mark the return of Exynos chips, specifically the Exynos 2600. A famous leaker on the X platform recently confirmed: "Exynos 2600 will definitely appear on the Galaxy S26."

However, there is one point to note. Although the Exynos 2600 will be manufactured on Samsung's new 2nm process, the report suggests that the chip's production will be quite limited. The source said that "the number of Exynos 2600 chips may be similar to the Exynos 990", which was used on the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series in most markets, except the US, Canada, and China.

This raises the possibility that the Galaxy S26 will have a similar chip distribution to the Galaxy S22 series: the Ultra version will use Snapdragon globally, while the standard and Plus models may be equipped with Exynos in some regions like Europe.

It's still too early to conclude Samsung's chip strategy for the Galaxy S26 series, but it's clear that the company is showing an effort to revive Exynos after years of decline. The question is: are users ready for Exynos to return, or is this another risky experiment for Samsung?
