Apple has officially rolled out iOS 26.3, a significant update designed to make migrating from an iPhone to Android devices—including Samsung Galaxy phones—smoother than ever before.
While Apple and Google have collaborated for years to bridge the gap between iOS and Android, the data transfer process has historically been cumbersome and multi-steps. With this latest update, Apple addresses those friction points by integrating a dedicated “Transfer to Android” option directly within the Settings menu, allowing users to proactively initiate the migration.
Once activated, the feature enables the seamless transfer of essential data, including apps, Live Photos, messages, notes, passwords, contacts, and photos. However, users should note that certain data types—such as paired Bluetooth connections, Health data, and specifically protected content—are not yet supported for transfer.
The migration workflow has also been heavily simplified. Users simply place their devices side-by-side, scan a QR code, and enter session details to begin. A major improvement over previous methods is that neither device needs to be in its initial setup mode, eliminating the need for a factory reset on either end.
For users switching from an iPhone to a Galaxy device, this update removes significant barriers, making the transition faster and far more convenient. Additionally, reports suggest Apple is developing features to allow non-Apple smartwatches to display iPhone notifications, hinting at broader device compatibility in the future.
