Android 15 (One UI 7) will be the last major update for these Galaxy devices!

Samsung has long been known for its software update policy, which is among the best in the Android world. However, like all tech, the software support lifecycle for Galaxy devices is limited. The company will soon release Android 15, the final OS update for some Galaxy devices before they stop receiving major upgrades in the future.

One UI 7, the new interface version based on Android 15, promises to bring many notable improvements. However, the rollout has been slower than expected so far. Samsung has not yet started rolling out the update even to flagship models like the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, or the Galaxy Tab S9 series. If you own an older Galaxy device, Android 15 is likely to be the last OS update for your device.

The following phones and tablets may no longer receive OS updates after Android 15:

  • Galaxy S21
  • Galaxy S21+
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Galaxy A14
  • Galaxy A14 5G
  • Galaxy M33
  • Galaxy M14
  • Galaxy M14 5G
  • Galaxy F14
  • Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022)
  • Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro

The above list is compiled based on Samsung's software update policy for each Galaxy device. Unless there is an unexpected change from the company, these devices will not receive Android 16 or any subsequent version of Android. However, Samsung may continue to provide security patches for a certain period of time, usually at least a year after the device stops receiving major updates.

So what should users do when their device is nearing the end of its update lifecycle? If you want to continue receiving the latest software updates and security features, upgrading to a newer phone model is a sensible option. New devices, especially the Galaxy S25 series and newly launched mid-range models, will be supported with long-term updates, allowing you to enjoy new features without worrying about security.

In the past, Samsung has unexpectedly extended software support for some Galaxy devices, so there is still a chance that some of the models on the list may receive additional updates. We will update if there is any official announcement from Samsung.
