Sharing files between Androids and iPhones might soon be a breeze. Samsung is gearing up to bring AirDrop compatibility to its Galaxy devices, following Google's recent push to bridge its Quick Share feature with Apple's ecosystem.
According to South Korean sources, Samsung's Mobile Chief, Choi Won-jun, revealed at a press conference in Japan that AirDrop compatibility will debut with the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. The good news? It won’t require new hardware; the feature will roll out entirely via software updates.
This means older, eligible Galaxy devices could also receive the update, ensuring the perk isn't locked behind a single product generation.
At its core, Google is building a digital bridge between Quick Share and AirDrop. Once finalized, users will be able to beam high-resolution photos, videos, and large documents directly across the two rival platforms, bypassing the clunky third-party apps and cloud services we’ve relied on for years.
While Samsung has yet to announce an official release date, confirmation from a top executive suggests the rollout is just around the corner.
If implemented broadly, this cross-platform sharing capability would mark a game-changing upgrade for Galaxy users, finally answering the growing demand for seamless data transfer between Android and iOS.
