Samsung has just adjusted its software update policy for some Galaxy devices. The change includes reducing the Galaxy S21 FE's security update frequency to quarterly and completely ending software support for four older models. If you're using one of these four devices, that means you'll no longer receive any updates from Samsung.

Galaxy S21 FE switches to quarterly updates

Launched in early 2022 with Android 12, the Galaxy S21 FE has received three major Android upgrades and is currently running Android 15 with One UI 7. It's expected to be updated to One UI 8 (Android 16) in the near future, and even One UI 8.5 next year, with security support lasting until at least early 2027.

However, instead of monthly updates as before, Samsung has switched the Galaxy S21 FE to a three-month update cycle. This means users will receive patches and new features later, but are still guaranteed to receive important security patches to keep their devices stable and safe in the future.

Four Galaxy models officially “stop updating”

Along with that, Samsung also completely stopped software support for four mid-range and low-cost models, including:

  • Galaxy A52s
  • Galaxy A03s
  • Galaxy M32 5G
  • Galaxy F42

These four devices have been removed from Samsung's official update list, meaning they will no longer receive any security patches.

However, users can still continue to use these Galaxy models for daily tasks. The devices still receive system updates from Google Play, helping to maintain basic services such as payments, messages and application security. However, no longer receiving patches from Samsung also means higher security risks, so upgrading to a newer Galaxy device is an option to consider if you want to ensure security and stable performance in the long run.
