Samsung is demonstrating a significant shift in software update priorities, with the Galaxy S25 FE receiving the December 2025 security patch nearly in sync with the standard Galaxy S25 lineup. This marks an important development, signaling the company's increasingly unified update strategy across product tiers.

The update has begun rolling out in South Korea with firmware version AYKG and will reach additional markets shortly. The package focuses on addressing nearly 70 security vulnerabilities rather than introducing new features, including critical Android kernel issues and several One UI system concerns. These improvements help the Galaxy S25 FE maintain security and stability during daily use.

Worth noting is Samsung's timing—releasing the December patch as users anticipate the One UI 8.5 Beta program. This has sparked speculation that the beta timeline could shift. The Galaxy S25 FE almost certainly won't make the beta cut, alongside the Galaxy S25 Edge. Only the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra are expected for early One UI access.

Though lacking priority status like the flagship trio, the Galaxy S25 FE benefits from Samsung's extended support policy, offering seven years of OS updates and seven years of security patches. For most of its lifecycle, the device will receive monthly updates before transitioning to quarterly cycles in its final support phase.

Users can check for and install the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
