Samsung is reportedly in the final stages of developing its first triple-fold smartphone, tentatively called the Galaxy G Fold. While it's unlikely to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, recent developments suggest that the device is getting closer to its official launch, which is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of this year. A notable piece of evidence has just appeared in an internal build of One UI 8, revealing the device's unique triple-fold design.

Drawings and animations discovered by Android Authority in One UI 8 show the specific design of this triple-fold device. The images, which were used to illustrate the NFC location, reveal a device structure consisting of three separate back panels and two hinges that fold inward. The left rear panel houses a vertical triple-camera cluster, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. In the middle is a secondary display with a selfie camera, while the right side is a blank back panel. When opened, users will have a main screen with a front camera inside.

The G-shaped folding design is clearly shown when both hinges fold inwards. In One UI 8, the device is called “Multifold 7” with the internal codename B7M. This suggests that Samsung may place this model in the 7th generation of foldable devices, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

With the special folding structure, Samsung also included an image warning users to fold in the correct order to avoid damage. The right hinge is thinner and needs to be folded first, while the left hinge is thicker and folds later. Incorrect folding can put uneven pressure on the screen and reduce the durability of the device. When folded properly, the device will look like a normal smartphone with the main camera cluster and a secondary screen on the outside, convenient for daily use without having to open it completely.

Samsung had quietly teased the tri-fold design at Unpacked in January. With what has just been revealed in One UI 8, it is likely that the company will take the opportunity to introduce the tri-fold device during the event on July 9, even though it has not officially been released yet. Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE, this promises to be one of the most notable highlights that technology lovers should not miss. We will continue to update the latest information as soon as it is available.
