Samsung is officially rolling out its April 2026 security update to the Galaxy S25 series, hot on the heels of a similar release for the flagship Galaxy S26. The patch is currently making its way to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, starting with users in South Korea.
Identified by the firmware version ending in BZCH, the update weighs in at approximately 535MB for the Ultra model, though file sizes may naturally vary depending on your region and specific device. Early reports indicate this is purely a routine Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for April 2026, meaning no major new features are on board just yet.
While Samsung has not yet published the granular details of this month’s security bulletin, SMR patches typically address dozens of vulnerabilities across both the core Android OS and Samsung's custom One UI interface. Users can expect a welcome bump in device security and overall system stability.
A wider global rollout is expected in the coming weeks as Samsung continues to push the update to its broader Galaxy portfolio.
Although this current patch is strictly about security, bigger changes are on the horizon. Samsung has already confirmed plans to backport several Galaxy S26 features to the S25 lineup via the upcoming One UI 8.5 update. This future release will introduce AI-powered intelligent call filtering alongside other major Galaxy AI enhancements.
Notably, this rollout applies only to devices running the stable One UI 8 build. If you are currently enrolled in the One UI 8.5 Beta program, you will not receive this standalone patch. Instead, these security fixes will be bundled directly into your upcoming beta releases.
It is also worth noting that the Galaxy S25 Edge and S25 FE are currently excluded from the One UI 8.5 beta program entirely.
