Even though the newly improved hinge significantly reduces the device's thickness and weight compared to its 309-gram predecessor, the tech giant is weighing the decision to delay the launch of the tri-fold series.

Ironically, this setback has become the catalyst for an even bolder venture. Insiders claim that Samsung’s first rollable phone project is accelerating at an astonishing pace.

Rather than waiting until early 2028 as previously forecast, the device could make its debut as early as next year. This roadmap shift suggests Samsung is eager to carve out a completely new segment, rather than playing catch-up in an increasingly crowded tri-fold market.

On the technology front, the upcoming rollable phone will feature a specialized flexible display panel developed in-house by Samsung—a technology the company has previously showcased as prototypes at major tech expos.
