Samsung has started rolling out One UI 8 Watch to the Galaxy Watch FE, beginning in South Korea before expanding to additional markets in the near term. This marks one of the most significant Wear OS 6 updates of 2025.

Galaxy Watch FE Receives One UI 8 Watch Update

The Wear OS 6 upgrade with One UI 8 Watch for Galaxy Watch FE carries version number R861XXU1CYK6 and includes the October 2025 security patch. While not the latest security release, this update prioritizes feature enhancements and a refreshed user experience.

Galaxy Watch FE users will receive a modern, redesigned interface, smoother animations, improved responsiveness, and a suite of feature upgrades. One UI 8 Watch delivers redesigned widgets, more accurate health tracking, and a cleaner, more intuitive interface across core applications.

One UI 8 Watch originally debuted alongside the Galaxy Watch 8, and has since rolled out to the Watch 7, Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch Ultra. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic will also receive this update soon—a logical move since Watch FE is essentially a rebranded Watch 4.

Because Watch FE arrived later, this represents only its second major OS upgrade. For the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, One UI 8 will be the final operating system update, meaning they won't receive new features going forward.

Galaxy Watch users running Wear OS can check for updates directly in the Galaxy Wearable app. Navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install to see if your device is ready for the upgrade. Once downloaded, tap Install now to begin the update process, and your watch will automatically restart to complete the installation.
