Samsung is pressing ahead with its January 2026 security update rollout. Following the Galaxy A34, the Galaxy A55 has now officially joined the list of supported devices. The patch is expected to reach other eligible flagship models soon, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

Much like the rollout for the A34, the update for the Galaxy A55 is initially available in South Korea, where the device is marketed as the Galaxy Quantum 5. The release carries the firmware version A556SKSS6CYL2. As expected, the update focuses exclusively on security enhancements without introducing new features—a logical move as Samsung dedicates its resources to finalizing the major One UI 8.5 update.

Interestingly, Samsung has already pushed several One UI 8.5 Beta builds to the Galaxy S25 series in select markets. Notably, the latest beta already integrates the January security patch, while devices running the stable version of One UI 8 are still waiting in the queue. However, this gap is expected to be bridged within the coming days.

In terms of specifics, the January 2026 maintenance release addresses 55 security vulnerabilities. These include patches from Google for the Android OS alongside specific fixes for Samsung’s One UI. With the majority of these flaws categorized as moderate to high severity, this is a critical update for users prioritizing device safety and privacy.

Samsung is expected to broaden the availability of this patch to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets across global markets shortly. Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
