Samsung is widening the reach of its December 2025 security patch, bringing the update to a host of budget and mid-range smartphones. The latest wave of updates is now live for the Galaxy A15 4G, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A17 4G, Galaxy A16 series (both 4G and 5G), and the Galaxy M16, significantly increasing the number of devices secured this month.
For the Galaxy A15 4G—a best-seller in Samsung’s entry-level lineup—the update has landed in South Korea with firmware version A155NKSS7CYL1. While this patch doesn't introduce new features, it focuses heavily on system safety, addressing approximately 68 security vulnerabilities identified by Samsung, Google, and other partners.
Following the Galaxy A53, the Galaxy A33 has also started receiving the December 2025 patch. The initial rollout was spotted in South Korea, carrying the firmware build number A336NKSSCGYL1.
The Galaxy A17 4G, which launched earlier this year, is receiving its second software update since hitting the shelves. This patch is widely available across multiple regions, including Europe, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. European users can identify the update by firmware version A175FXXS2BYL1.
Over in the M series, only the Galaxy M16 (also known as the Galaxy Wide 8) has picked up the December 2025 update so far. It is currently rolling out in South Korea with firmware version M166SKSS4BYL1.
Additionally, both the Galaxy A16 4G and Galaxy A16 5G are being updated in Samsung's home market. The LTE model is receiving firmware A165NKSS4CYL1, while the 5G variant is getting A166LKSS4BYL2.
If you haven't received a notification yet, the update is expected to expand to other global markets soon. You can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
