Samsung is accelerating the rollout of its December 2025 security patch, extending the update to a wider range of Galaxy tablets and foldable smartphones released in previous years. Following last week’s wave of updates for newer devices, the tech giant is now bringing its latest security fixes to older Galaxy Tab S, Z Fold, and Z Flip models.
Galaxy Tab S8, Z Fold, and Z Flip Series Join the Update List
In the South Korean market, Samsung has begun pushing the December update to the entire Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, including the standard Tab S8, S8 Plus, and S8 Ultra. Specifically, the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is receiving firmware version X900XXS9EYK1.
According to release notes, this patch addresses approximately 57 security vulnerabilities identified by Samsung, Google, and other Android ecosystem partners. This move follows the recent deployment of the same patch to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE.
Focus on Foldables
On the foldable front, Samsung is simultaneously rolling out updates for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 in Korea. The Fold 4 update carries firmware version F936NKSS6IYL1, while the Flip 4 is being updated with build number F721NKSS6IYL1.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 have started receiving the December security maintenance release. These devices are seeing firmware versions F946NKSS5FYL2 and F731NKSS5FYL1, respectively, with download sizes surpassing the 400 MB mark.
What to Expect
As is typical with monthly maintenance updates, the December 2025 patch does not introduce new features. Instead, it focuses purely on system hardening, patching security holes, and improving overall device stability. Samsung is expected to expand this rollout to other global markets in the coming days.
Users with eligible devices can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Once downloaded, a quick restart will apply the December 2025 security patch.
