Samsung is ramping up the distribution of its January 2026 security patch across the Galaxy ecosystem. Following a wave of updates for its latest flagships, foldables, and mid-range devices, the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra have officially joined the roster. The rollout has kicked off in South Korea, with global markets expected to follow suit in the coming days.

Sticking to its monthly routine, Samsung has deployed its latest Security Maintenance Release (SMR), targeting vulnerabilities within both the Android OS and One UI. The January 2026 patch addresses over 50 security flaws, including several classified as critical risks that could be exploited if left unchecked. Users should note that this is a purely defensive update aimed at system hardening rather than introducing new features.

For the 2022 flagship trio, the update carries the firmware build number ending in GZA1. While it focuses on enhancing system stability and security, it does not bring visual changes or significant performance overhauls. Looking ahead, the Galaxy S22 is still scheduled to receive One UI 8.5 later this year—marking its final major feature update. It is worth noting that the S22 series predates Samsung’s new seven-year support policy; consequently, it will not be eligible for the Android 17-based One UI 9 upgrade.

Samsung confirmed that the patch will expand gradually to other key markets, including the U.S., Europe, and across Asia. Galaxy S22 owners can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. As with all over-the-air updates, availability may vary slightly by region and carrier.
