Samsung is quietly shifting gears on the development of One UI 8.5. Moving beyond the high-profile public beta for the Galaxy S25, the tech giant has begun internal testing on a slate of mid-range and budget devices. This signals that a broader rollout strategy for One UI 8.5 is already underway.
Fresh data from Samsung’s official test servers reveals that the Galaxy M34 and Galaxy F34 are the latest additions to the roadmap. Specifically, Samsung has initiated testing for the Galaxy M34 in markets including India and Sri Lanka, identified by firmware build M346BXXU9FYL2. While the appearance of this firmware confirms that software development has officially kicked off, it does not necessarily mean a public release is imminent.
The Galaxy F34 follows suit with its own internal build, E346BXXU9FYL2. These handsets join a growing roster of M and F series devices currently under the microscope, alongside the Galaxy M54, M17, and F17. It is highly likely that more budget-friendly models will enter the testing phase in the coming weeks.
Both the Galaxy M34 and F34 launched in 2023 running Android 13. Given Samsung's commitment to four major Android updates, these devices are on track to eventually receive One UI 9 (based on Android 17). Under the current roadmap, that update—projected for late 2026—will likely mark their final major operating system overhaul.
Although One UI 8.5 does not accompany a major Android version number jump, it remains a significant update. Built on the Android 16 QPR2 codebase, the interface promises refined UI elements, deeper customization options, new features, and enhanced system-wide blur effects. The stable version is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup early next year before cascading down to the broader Galaxy ecosystem, including mid-range and budget lineups.
