One UI has long been considered one of the most intuitive and modern Android interfaces, with the icon system on the status bar also designed to be streamlined and elegant. However, many Galaxy users find it annoying that the location icon appears too often, taking up display space even though they don't really need to monitor it.

On current Galaxy devices, the location icon will appear whenever an application uses location, whether it is a Samsung application or a third-party application. In terms of security, this is a useful feature, helping users recognize when location data is being accessed. But in reality, many system applications frequently use location, making this icon almost always present, causing discomfort to many people.

According to Android Authority's discovery in the internal code of the One UI 8 beta version based on Android 16, Samsung seems to be developing an option to hide the location icon on the status bar when a system application uses location. In the event that a third-party app accesses your location, the icon will still appear as a security warning.

If this feature is implemented, the location icon will appear less, returning a cleaner display space on the screen. Currently, Samsung has not enabled this option in the beta or stable version and has not confirmed the release date. It is likely that this will be part of an additional update to One UI 8 in the near future.
