Samsung is gradually bringing Galaxy devices into the quantum computing era with powerful security upgrades in the One UI 8 update. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be the first devices equipped with this new series of features, officially launched at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.
One of the notable points is the new security architecture called KEEP. This is an advanced encryption system designed to protect personal data for AI features that operate directly on the device. KEEP helps create separate storage areas for each application in the Knox system, thereby ensuring that user data is not accessed unintentionally. Features such as Now Brief or Smart Suggestions will take advantage of personal data in a safer and more private way.
Samsung also brings improvements to Knox Matrix, an internal security platform based on blockchain technology, specializing in managing the smart device ecosystem. With One UI 8, Knox Matrix is able to detect risky devices and automatically log them out of the system, while also sending alerts to users through linked Galaxy devices. Users can also check and control the security status through the “Device Status” section.
The third upgrade is related to the Secure Wi-Fi system that is already available on Galaxy devices. With One UI 8, Samsung has integrated quantum-resistant encryption, using a new algorithm to protect network connections from attacks using the computing power of quantum computers in the future. This is a necessary step forward as the security industry is preparing to face the risks that quantum computing may bring.
Currently, Galaxy users can use Secure Wi-Fi for free for 1024MB of data per month and subscribe to an extended package if they need to use more. However, this system is not yet capable of resisting quantum encryption algorithms. This upgrade not only adds superior protection but also maintains the current user experience.
The One UI 8 update will officially launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 this week. After that, Samsung plans to expand the new security features to more Galaxy devices, depending on the model and region. This step shows that Samsung is seriously preparing for the future, where privacy and information security will become a top priority on mobile devices.
