With One UI 8 now complete, Samsung is now focusing on the One UI 8.5 update. The beta program could launch soon, and the stable version is likely to arrive with the Galaxy S26 series. Along with this development process, a series of increasingly dense leaks has been reported, including a notable upgrade for Now Brief.
Samsung is said to be significantly improving the personalization of Now Brief in One UI 8.5. Previously, the feature showed YouTube video suggestions and Spotify playlists, but many users felt the suggested content was quite random. Based on the source code discovered by Android Authority, Samsung is upgrading towards deeper personalization and showing the reason for the recommendation.
YouTube is the platform that has been improved the most. In One UI 8.5, the system will explain why you see a particular video, based on your interests, sports teams you follow, or even travel plans. Samsung also added a data permission dialog, explaining how sharing information helps make Now Brief recommendations more accurate and relevant.
Spotify is also taking a more contextual approach, with Now Brief selecting playlists based on the time of day, day of the week, or mood of the moment.
Suggested playlists include Afternoon energy boosts, Friday warmup playlists, rainy day mixes, winter selections, bedtime wind-down tracks, and more playlists for special occasions like New Year’s and the end of the year. These additions bring Now Brief closer to its original goal of providing content that’s relevant to the moment without users having to actively search for it.
