Samsung has just released the May 2025 security update for its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable phones. With this update, the company has completed the rollout of the May patch to the entire eligible Galaxy Z series, including its predecessors and newer devices such as the Z Flip 3, Fold 3, Flip 5, Fold 5, Flip 6, and Fold 6.
In South Korea, Galaxy Z Flip 4 users will receive the update with software version F721NKSS6HYE2, while Galaxy Z Fold 4 users will receive the update with firmware version F736NKSS6HYE2. International markets are expected to receive the patch soon, although some regions may have to wait a few more days.
This is a minor feature update, with no notable changes to the interface or user features, as these models have just been updated to One UI 7 not long ago. However, the May patch includes nearly 80 security fixes, including around 60 patches from Android and more than 20 patches specific to Samsung's One UI interface. These patches are aimed at fixing potential security vulnerabilities, giving users more peace of mind when using their devices.
To check and download the update, users can go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are on the list of devices eligible to upgrade to One UI 8 based on Android 16. The beta version could be rolled out next week, while the stable version is expected to appear in July. It is likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be the first devices to come with One UI 8 pre-installed at launch, before the update is expanded to other devices.
