After much speculation over the past month, Samsung has finally confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 4 series will be getting the One UI 8 Watch update, based on Wear OS 6. This is good news for those who are still using the smartwatch model launched in 2021.

Although the Galaxy Watch 4 series has reached the end of its regular software update roadmap, Samsung has decided to release one last update. According to firmware tracker Akhilesh Kumar on the X platform, Samsung has started internal testing of One UI 8 Watch for both the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.

Currently, the update does not have an official release date. However, if the roadmap of previous years is followed, it is likely that the update will start rolling out in the weeks after the Galaxy Watch 8 officially hits the shelves.

The Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will be the first devices to come with One UI 8 Watch pre-installed, this was confirmed by Samsung at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event. This is also the final update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, so if you're considering upgrading to the new generation, now is a good time.
