Samsung has just released a new update for the Camera Assistant app, bringing notable improvements specifically for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. The new version, coded as 4.0.00.1, is now available on the Galaxy Store, and it also adds compatibility with One UI 8.

Camera Assistant on One UI 8 brings a more optimized experience for foldable devices
With this update, Camera Assistant is more deeply integrated with the One UI 8 operating system, providing smoother performance and better interaction on supported Galaxy devices. Since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 both come pre-installed with One UI 8, users can take advantage of all the camera customization options that the app offers.
An interesting point in this update is the ability to customize the sound when taking Motion Photos. On the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, users can choose from a variety of sound effects and adjust the timing of the sound when pressing the shutter. Although it is a small change, it brings a more lively and personal interaction feeling when using the camera.
It is not yet clear whether Samsung intends to expand this feature to other models after the One UI 8 update. The new version of One UI based on Android 16 is in the testing phase and is expected to be widely released from August, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. All eligible models are expected to be updated before the end of 2025.
As for Camera Assistant, the new update has started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 via the Galaxy Store. Samsung is also planning to update other modules in the Good Lock toolkit to be compatible with One UI 8 in the near future.
